Style Inspiration: Belanova's Denisse Guererro

When it comes to Latin music there are plenty of male bands to go around but where are all of the Latina artists? I mean we have talent, smarts and style to boot. As I was deciding  who to  feature in this week’s “Style Inspiration, ” Belanova‘s  songstress Denisse Guererro immediately came to mind.   Not only is she gorgeous, she’s also the LEAD singer of the Mexican-bred electro-pop group which gives her a gold star in my book. With her kitschy and futuristic sense of stilo, Guererro tiene ese algo that you can’t help but notice.  She’s kind of a cross between Charlotte Gainsbourg and Zoey Deschanel.  If you want to take your look to a whole other level, read on for tips on how to get Denisse’s supernova style.

Tip #1  Live in Color

Guererro loves to make a statement in splashes of color.  Choose one accesory or piece of clothing that has a pop of color and rock it out! Shoes are an excellent option. Check out her bright yellow go-go boots and  funky blue platforms.

Tip #2  Think outside the seam

Denisse loves futuristic fashion.  Shop for fashion and accessories with unique patterns, textures and structures. Check out the striped pattern and white cut-out creation below. That dress doesn’t even look like its  finished, but for Guererro that’s fashion forward thinking.

Tip # 3   Get her hair and makeup

 Guererro started rockin’ her bangs way before they became this year’s hair trend.  If you want her locks, keep it straight, sleek and shiny. As far as makeup, achieve long lashes with  falsies and tried-and-true lengthening mascara.  Go with bold pinks and reds for lips and experiment with colored liners in blue and green.
